What is the title of the Btec qualification your are studying?

The Btec qualification that I am studying is BTEC level 3 creative media production.


How long will it take you to complete this qualification?

This qualification will take 2 years to complete.


How many units will you study in total?

In total I will study 4 units.


How many of them are mandatory and what does mandatory mean?

Mandatory means that you have to do it and both units are mandatory.


What are the tiles of the mandatory unit and when (in the year) will you study them?

The titles of the mandatory units are:

Unit 1 and 2 are the units that I will be doing for the 1st year of the course
Unit 1: Pre- productions techniques for the creative media industries.

Unit 2: Communication skills for the creative media production.

Unit 3 is the course that I will be doing for the 2nd year of the course.

Unit 3: Research techniques for the creative media industries.

What are the main topics of each mandatory unit?

Unit 1:For the first mandatory unit, which is unit 1 I will be learning and understanding the requirements for media production and also make a pre-production documentary for a certain media production. Also another topic will be planning a pre-production for a specific media production.

Unit 2:
One of the topics for unit 2 is to take information from written sources. Another topic for this unit is to make a report in a media production context. The final topic is to be able to present a media production proposal using the appropriate technology.
Unit3:
In unit 3 one of the topics that I shall learn and understand is the purposes of research in the media industries. Also I will learn a wide range of researching methods and techniques.The final topic will be presenting my results of research.

How many optional units will you have to study and what does optional mean?

There are three optional units, and the word optional means that I have the choice of which courses I would like to study for Btec.


What are the titles of the optional units you will study and when(in the year) will you study them?

Unit 23: Multi-camera techniques.

Unit 29: Music video production.

Unit 27: Factual programme production techniques for television.

Unit 30: Advertisement production for television.



What are the main topics of each optional unit?

In unit 23 the main topics that I will be learning are the formats the use multi-camera production. That I will be able to plan a multi-camera production. Another topic that I will be learning is to be able to take on different roles in multi-camera production

Unit 29: In this unit I will be able to understand the purpose of music videos. Also another topic will be to understand the styles,conventions and techniques of music videos. Also during this unit I must be able to plan an original idea for a music video of a certain music track. I should also be able to complete the production of the music video.

Unit 27: In this unit I shall learn about issues that relate to factual programming for television. Also I will be able understand the conventions and codes of programming for television. I also must be able to plan and research a factual programme for television. Then finally the last topic would be to produce my own factual programme for television.

unit 30: In this unit I will learn the techniques of television advertisement. I also will be able to come up with an original idea then develop it for a television advertisement.  Also during this unit I must be able to produce a television advertisement. The final topic for this unit will to reflect on my own television advertisement production work


What media production skills will you be developing on this course?

During media production I will be developing a wide range of skills throughout each course, such as communication skills, being able to use a wide range of research methods. Also I will be learning how to use different types of editing software. Other skills that I shall learn throughout the course is presentation skills and 0rganisation skills.


What transferable personal skills will you be developing on this course?

The transferable personal skills that I will be developing on this course are being able to work independently and also being able to work with a group of people. Another skill be to think of creative solutions and to take part in discussions and production.


Give two questions that you would like to know more about in terms of CMP, BTEC, your course or anything else related to the subject

I don't think there are any questions that I want to ask about the course as I think that all the questions have already been asked.

During my summer holiday I went to see the dark night rises and the amazing spider man and they were both great films. Personally I think the dark night rises was better than spider man because it had more of an interesting mysterious plot and some plot twists along the way which made me become more interested in the film and also the action sequences where more physical and violent which grabbed my attention more,because it made the film seem more realistic. The amazing spider man was also a very good film and I found it rather enjoyable to watch, but I thought that the plot of the film symbolised the first spider man film slightly and this spider man film should of had a bit more of a plot, rather than just doing the first film over again with a different villain. Another film I watched during the summer was the Japanese animation howls moving castle,it is a brilliant film where imagination is bought to life. The animation to the film is wonderful and the plot to the film is very mind grasping.

Also during the start of the holidays there was a shooting at the premier of the dark night rises in Colorado, where a man James Holmes shot and killed 12 people during the showing of the film. I found this quite an interesting story as before this James was a ordinary man and a you tuber and now he's considered as quite a threat and I like how it shows that people can change from one personality to the complete opposite personality in just a matter of time . I think BBC news should of come across this news with bit more of an appropriate title even though this story shows that James isn't the most sanest of people the term mentally ill still seems to be quite offencive and rude.

Throughout the majority of my summer I spent my time on the Internet searching random things up, Facebook, You Tube,but mostly spent it watching anime. Anime is one of my favourite things and its something that I really enjoy watching, mainly because its just something different to watch and there is so many different categories and that all of the plots are different from one another, some might share a slight resemblance but that's all. The downside about anime is that only a hand full of people actually know about it and I think that's a real shame as its a good way to embrace the Japanese culture animation and art styles,while at the same time enjoying some really good and memorable shows.

Near to the end of summer I went to the 1 2 3 4 festival in London which was quite good as it had quite a lot of upcoming bands and different types of music. I really enjoyed the Japanese band Bo Ningen, they created an energetic lively atmosphere which then resulted into a mosh pit which was very entertaining to watch. Out of all the bands there Bo Ningen certainly was my favourite as it was different to see and that they really know how to give a good show to there audience.Here is a Clip of one of there music videos. Also at the festival the buzzocks played, I thought that they were a decent band but not really my choice of music.
