Evaluation of the CVS promotional video
What were you asked to do?We were asked to make a promotional video for the RDWWA ( Redbridge disabled women's welfare association).
Who/ what were you making a video about?
We were making a video about the RDWWA. The Asian ladies vision is living joyful and healthy lives and there mission is to provide sessions on health and well being, outings and trips, awareness sessions and life issues. The video was also made so that people are more aware of this organisation and that so more people can get involved with it.
What was the purpose of the video?
The purpose of the video was to promote the RDWWA by showing what there organisation is about and the things that they do within that organisation.
What did you do in each production stage?
pre production- for pre production we researched about the organisation basis and the got given separate charities that we had to look into.
production- For the production stage we had to email the person in charge about what we were doing and then we went to the person who runs the RDWWA house and filmed and asked her questions about her organisation. We asked her a range of questions to do with her organisation and she gave us interesting information about it. Unfortunately we wasn't able to get more footage of their event happening so we had to work with the footage that we already had.
post production- In the post production stage, we had to import all of the clips and then put them in order so that the video doesn't look jumpy and so that it makes sense. When editing it took a while to find what we were looking for as the women went of topic quite quickly and we had to make sure we chose the right parts. The cutaways and graphics I think make the video more interactive and interesting, as your not just watching women talking and your getting the image of what their organisation is about and what they have got to offer. When it came to the music we didn't really know what to choose, so we ended up with traditional sitar music and piano instrumental music and I think when the music changes from the sitar to the piano it is well done and sounds natural(1:13).
what problems did you encounter and how did you solve them?
During the whole unit I don't think we really en-counted any problems, except not being able to gather more footage of there event happening so we just used what we already had from a previous group and, when it came to editing we couldn't find the answers from the ladies to the questions asked because they moved on to a different topics quite quickly.
What were your strengths and weaknesses in each stage?
In the pre-production stage there wasn't any strength of weaknesses as all I had to do was research about basis and our chosen organisation. When it came to the production one of my strengths would have been asking the women the questions. At post production stage I think that the strengths were that we all helped each other with the editing and that we listened to the ideas that everyone had about how we should edit certain parts. I think the weaknesses in the post production stage was having to find the right clips in a certain amount of time and them putting them in the correct place so that the video runs smoothly and isn't jumping from one thing to another.
What is your opinion of the finished product?
My opinion of the finished product is that I think it shows what there organisation is about, and that before when it didn't have music playing in the background it made it slightly dull, but when music was added it made it more interesting and didn't loose interest as quick. The only problem with the music is that it gets loud at one point and overtakes what the women are saying, but then it goes back to normal. Also I think that the cutaways in the video made it more interesting as you got to have a glimpse at what happens at there events.
